The Santa Catarina market offers excellent opportunities and has enormous potential for expansion and, due to its prominent role in the economy of the southern region, enabled the debut and consolidation of this important fair for the logistics sector in Brazil. Positioned among the main GDP's in Brazil, the state of Santa Catarina stands out mainly for its industrial, services and tourism economic activities. But the state has also captured the attention of the main players in Brazil for the topic of logistics. This is because the sector was the main theme of Logistique \u2013 Multimodal Logistics and Business Fair, held between the 23rd and 25th of October, in Joinville, in the north of the state.<\/p>\n
The Fair had the strong presence of major players, bringing together more than 80 brands, among them Zurich Airport \u2013 controller of the operator Floripa Airport, Hamburg S\u00fcd and Alian\u00e7a Navega\u00e7\u00e3o e Log\u00edstica, Infraero, PAC Log, Porto Itapo\u00e1, Arteris \u2013 Litoral Sul , Volkswagen Caminh\u00f5es e \u00d4nibus the event is already considered the second largest in Brazil in the segment. More than 12,000 people visited the stands and participated in lectures over the three days of the event. According to the organization, all initial expectations were exceeded. \u201cThe region is responsible for 22% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Santa Catarina and accounts for 32% of exports and 26% of imports in the state, involving the ports of Santa Catarina \u2013 Imbituba, Itaja\u00ed and S\u00e3o Francisco do Sul, and the private use terminals Porto Itapo\u00e1 and Portonave S\/A \u2013 Navegantes Port Terminal -, handling a trade flow of US$ 9.404 billion, according to data registered between January and June of this year. And it is in this scenario that Logistique consolidates itself, embracing all the players involved in the logistics process, discussing matters relevant to the growth of the sector and encouraging the generation of business\u201d, highlights Leonardo Rinaldi, director of the event.<\/p>\n
For the mayor of Joinville, Udo D\u00f6hler, the choice of the city to host the fair from a logistical point of view could not have come at a better time. \u201cJoinville is strategically positioned next to airport ports, in addition to being served by important highways. Given what we found here, I can say that Joinville is prepared for new editions of the event, certainly much bigger than this first edition\u201d.<\/p>\n
The strategic location of Joinville and the potential of Santa Catarina is also highlighted by the president of the Brazilian Airport Infrastructure Company (Infraero), Ant\u00f4nio Claret de Oliveira. \u201cInitiatives like this one, to bring an event of the size of Logistique to Joinville, opens up the possibility of integrating and promoting synergy between road, port, rail and air transport logistics\u201d, said Claret. According to the leader, Santa Catarina has major bridges to leverage airport operations in the state that are already being promoted by Infraero.<\/p>\n
\u201cA large area of Santa Catarina is currently underutilized due to the impossibility of adequate access. We are seeking to solve these bottlenecks with investments in our airport infrastructure.\u201d Among Infraero's projects for Santa Catarina are the systematic change in the management process of the Navegantes International Airport with the tendering of a hotel and promotion center in the terminal area and also the implementation of a new structure for the cargo terminals, currently operated by PAC Log.<\/p>\n
For the president of Abralog, Pedro Moreira, events like this cause relevant issues to be discussed and pointed out by those involved, mainly shedding light on infrastructure deficiencies, generated by the lack of public investment, which places the Brazilian reality far below verified in developed countries. \u201cBrazil should invest between 4% and 5% of its GDP in infrastructure, while investing around 1%. According to executives, investments in highways, railways, ports and airports, in the interconnection of modes and in the expansion of multimodality are crucial to guarantee the competitiveness of the Brazilian product. It is also necessary to make long-term investments in logistics hubs, legal security and clear rules and attractive rates for those who want to invest\u201d, he assesses.<\/p>\n
The consolidation of the event as an important business platform for the sector is recognized by sponsors Alian\u00e7a and Hamburg. \u201cAmong the cabotage and long-haul modes, we operate 2,000 ship calls a year in southern Brazil, in six ports on the Rio Grande\/Paranagu\u00e1 axis, and the Santa Catarina market is considered very important for the company, where it is present in two ports and two private use terminals (TUPs), said Leonardo Silva, regional manager of Alian\u00e7a Navega\u00e7\u00e3o e Log\u00edstica and Hamburg S\u00fcd.<\/p>\n
