In 2020, more than 3,600 tons of Nestlé chocolates were packaged at the SuperFrio unit in the interior of São Paulo.

Postponement of final packaging, or in English postponement, is a strategic guideline for manufacturing companies, and consists of postponing as much as possible the last manufacturing activity in which the primary packaging of the finished product is transformed, definitively, into packaging for consumption by the end customer on the shelf. This type of strategic decision, if well executed, can considerably reduce finished product inventories along the distribution chain.

An option to perform the activity of co-packer in an efficient way is to choose to carry it out in partnership with the logistics operator and, in this way, guarantee the transformation of the finished product in the last link of the chain, with the necessary agility and flexibility, in addition to the quality and level of service defined in the contract.

Aware of this, Nestlé, considered the largest food company in the world by Forbes, and SuperFrio, a company controlled by Pátria Investimentos, and leader in the refrigerated logistics industry in South America according to the IARW, strengthened their commercial relationship in 2020 and hit production records. More than 3,600 tons of Nestlé chocolate were packaged over the last year at the SuperFrio unit in Vargem Grande do Sul, in the interior of São Paulo.

“SuperFrio added the service of co-packer in 2004 and, since then, we have served the most diverse demands of our customers. During this period, we accumulated great successful cases for the food industry. Specifically, 2020 was a very challenging year, when we faced the pandemic by implementing a strict protocol against Covid-19 and we reached production and productivity records in this period,” says Priscila Garcia, manager of the Vargem Grande do Sul unit.

“The SuperFrio unit in Vargem Grande do Sul was a pioneer in offering the market a complete solution, as we go beyond storage and movement with controlled temperature and humidity, offering the solution of co-packer integrated with great flexibility and agility. Our team has great know-how and we work with modern equipment”, says Tiago Oliveira, SuperFrio's commercial manager.

“We are very satisfied with all the service offered by the SuperFrio team, there were several projects that we worked on together throughout 2020, both organizations benefited from this strategic choice. We chose SuperFrio as our partner because they offer us the agility and flexibility that we so need”, says Vitor Cacciatore, Procurement Nestle Brazil.

“We will remain focused on growing together with our customers, either organically or through acquisitions, always inspired by our Vision: To be the first option in refrigerated logistics solutions in South America, by 2023.”, emphasizes Vinicius Falcão, commercial director at SuperCold.

SuperFrio offers services of co-packer through labeling, application of shrink, assembly of kits/packing, bottling of overcaps, flow packs, inspection and other on-demand projects. The company operates in the states of São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Bahia, Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, with a strong presence in the processed food, distribution, retail, food service, import and export in addition to agribusiness.
