SuperFrio announces first refrigerated logistics center in Rio Grande do Sul, starting operations in July/2021

With an initial capacity of 110 thousand m³ and investments of R$ 23 million, the DC will be located in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre.

SuperFrio, a company controlled by Pátria Investimentos and leader in the refrigerated logistics industry in South America*, announced its first unit in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. This will be the company's 29th refrigerated logistics center in Brazil and the 8th in the southern region of the country.  

Located on the banks of BR-386 at Km 437 in the city of Nova Santa Rita, metropolitan area of Porto Alegre, the new logistics center will initially serve food service and distribution. With an area of around 12,000 m² and an initial installed capacity of 10,000 pallets, equivalent to 110,000 m³ of storage, the logistics center will begin operations in July 2021. 

According to the commercial manager of the retail and food service from SuperFrio, Tiago Oliveira, the new refrigerated logistics center in Rio Grande do Sul has always been in the company's plans. 

“The DC has an excellent location in the Porto Alegre region, very close to BR's 448 and 116, facilitating the flow of goods transport, and just 12 km from the capital, adding value when we think about distribution throughout the metropolitan region.

SuperFrio's Commercial Director, Vinicius Falcão, also highlights the aggressive plan that the company has for the region.

“In addition to operations food service and distribution, our plan is to invest approximately BRL 23 million in frozen and refrigerated chambers to serve our customers in the industrialized food, retail and protein markets. The new structure positions SuperFrio in the distribution of temperature-controlled products in the state’s food chain, which can generate up to 300 new jobs, both direct and indirect.”

It is in SuperFrio's plans to take all its expertise in processes and systems in the short term to the company's newest unit. The WMS (Warehouse Management System) from the Blue Yonder and SuperFrio's IMS (Integrated Management System), which includes ISO 45001 and 14001 standards – global references in health, safety and the environment, will support the operations of the DC.

SuperFrio already operates in the states of São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Bahia, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Pernambuco, Ceará and now Rio Grande do Sul. With a strong presence in the agribusiness markets, food service, protein, processed foods, retail and catering.
